HART Sport customers depend on complex B2B workflows, including tailored pricing, bulk and recurring orders, and account-based purchasing structures. As demand for digital self-service grew, HART Sport’s existing systems were no longer able to support the level of flexibility, efficiency, and integration required to deliver a modern B2B buying experience.

The Challenge

HART Sport needed to modernise its B2B ecommerce capability to better serve institutional buyers while reducing operational complexity.


The business faced several challenges in delivering a seamless B2B commerce experience, including complex account management requirements where institutional customers needed account hierarchies, delegated purchasing, and role-based permissions.


Customers also required efficient tools for bulk and recurring ordering, along with invoice based payment options. In addition, the platform needed to support customer specific pricing, credit terms, and purchase approval workflows. Compounding these challenges, fragmented data between ERP and ecommerce systems created manual overhead, increased the risk of errors, and limited operational efficiency.

Our Approach

Pipelabs implemented Pocketknife as a dedicated B2B enablement layer on Shopify Plus, transforming the platform into a purpose built B2B commerce solution for Hart Sport. By seamlessly connecting Shopify Plus with Hart Sport’s Pronto ERP, Pocketknife enabled advanced B2B workflows without requiring heavy customisation to either core system. This modular architecture ensured deep integration, real time synchronisation, and long term scalability, while preserving platform stability and performance.


The solution delivered a fully integrated B2B portal tailored for institutional buyers, incorporating account hierarchies and role-based permissions, customer-specific and tiered pricing, quotes and quote to order workflows, saved carts and recurring orders, invoice history with part and full payments, user impersonation, and full EDI ordering via cXML and OCI Roundtrip integrations. Real-time ERP synchronisation ensured accuracy across catalogues, pricing, and order data.


The impact was immediate and measurable: catalogue and pricing accuracy increased from 83% to 98% following full ERP integration, over 90% of B2B accounts logged into the portal within the first four weeks post launch, quote to cash timelines improved, and API/EDI order success rates strengthened significantly. The result is a high-performance, self service B2B commerce environment built for speed, accuracy, and scale.
